Coverage is available from an additional premium of £980 per year for your salon with up to 6 staff and limits of indemnity from £500,000 through to £4 million. Advanced Electrolysis [ACP]

ABT Advanced Electrolysis Extension

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the provision of Advanced Electrolysis by way of ABT approved devices.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that this treatment is included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance (if applicable), consent and is suitably recorded by the policyholder.
  • Doctors’ consent for any hair removal treatment from moles.
  • Doctor’s consent for any mole removal treatment.
  • Signed consent from a parent or guardian for treatment for client under the age of 16.
  • The operator holding the necessary certificate of competence and only using the equipment that is designed for this purpose and which is regularly serviced and maintained.

Subject to all other terms and conditions of the policy.



ABT Prerequisites

Advanced Skin Peeling

ABT Advanced Skin Peeling Extension

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the provision of Advanced Skin Peeling by way of ABT approved products.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that this treatment is included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance (if applicable), consent and is suitably recorded by the policyholder.
  • Treatment not performed on clients with who are takingphoto sensitive medications including Roaccutane and antibiotics.
  • Treatment not performed on clients with medical conditions that cause thinning of the skin or loss of sensitivity.
  • Treatment not performed on clients with open cuts and wounds, allergies to Aspirin or use of Retinoic Acid or Retin A products.
  • Treatment not performed on clients who are pregnant.
  • Treatment not performed on clients who are under the age of 16. Treatments must only be carried out by a trained therapist who holds a qualifying certificate. A patch test must be performed on the client at least 24 hours before the first treatment and at renewed every six months.

Subject to all other terms and conditions of the policy.

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policy holder for the provision of Cryopen by way of ABT approved products or devices.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that these treatments are included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance (if applicable), consent and is suitably recorded by the policyholder. The insured must hold a Level 2 Beauty qualification in general beauty therapy or be a qualified Doctor or Nurse and/or foot healthcare professional.
  • Subject to the operator holding the necessary certificate of competency and only using the equipment that is designed for this purpose and which is regularly serviced and maintained.
  • Manufacturer’s pre and post treatment procedures are adhered to.
  • The policy excludes the treatment of clients with any contraindications as stipulated by the manufacturers.
  • Cover excludes any claims relating to a change in the pigmentation of the skin as a result of the treatment.

Subject to all other terms and conditions of the policy.



ABT Prerequisites

The policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policy holder for the provision of Micropigmentation/Semi-permanent Make Up by way of ABT approved products or devices.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that these treatments are included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance (if applicable), consent and is suitably recorded by the policyholder.
  • Cover excludes clients with contraindications stipulated by the manufacturers.
  • Cover excludes any claims relating to a change in the pigmentation of the skin as a result of the treatment.
  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s information is provided to the client and is suitably recorded.
  • The operator only using the equipment that is designed for this purpose and which is regularly serviced and maintained.
  • The policy will cover you to practice the techniques of your qualification: eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner, lips, blusher etc.

Subject to all other terms and conditions of the policy.

  • Cover excludes any clients with the contra indications stipulated by the manufacturer
  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s information is given to the client and recorded suitably that it has been given
  • The operator holding the necessary certificate of competence and only using the equipment that is designed for this purpose and which is regularly serviced and maintained.

ABT Ultra Sound, Ultrasonic Lipo-cavitation and Radio Frequency - CAVITATION

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the provision of Ultra-Sound, Ultrasonic Lipo-cavitation and Radio Frequency therapy by way of ABT approved devices.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that these treatments are included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance (if applicable), consent and is suitably recorded by the policyholder.
  • Cover excludes any clients with the contra indications stipulated by the manufacturer
  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s information is given to the client and recorded suitably that it has been given
  • The operator holding the necessary certificate of competence and only using the equipment that is designed for this purpose and which is regularly serviced and maintained.
  • The insured must hold a Level 3 Beauty therapy qualification including facial and body electrical units

This policy is hereby extended to include Skin Needling/Dema-Rollering/Micro Needling using ABT approved products.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that these treatments are included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance (if applicable), consent and is suitably recorded by the policyholder.
  • A new unit is used for each new client and is allocated to that client only by a numbering system. Such units are to have been irradiated before delivery to the salon by the supplier or maker.
  • After each use such items are to be sanitized according to the makers specifications and instructions.
  • Needle lengths must not exceed 1.5mm stamp or roller for facial treatments and 3mm for body treatments.

Condition - Sunbeds, Sunlamps and Tanning Booths

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that these treatments are included subject to

  • Not allow anyone under 18 years of age to use the equipment.
  • Keep a record of the treatment session undertaken by any client to include details of the date the session took place, their name & address, age and medical history.
  • Not allow any person who may be pregnant to use the equipment.
  • Not allow any person who has previously suffered from skin cancer to use the equipment.
  • Not allow anyone with abnormal sensitivity to the sun either due to photosensitive skin diseases (sun allergies) or medication to use the equipment.
  • Ascertain if anybody is taking any medication.
  • Prohibit the use of tan accelerants.
  • Ensure goggles are worn all times during the course of the treatment.
  • Ensure manufacturers guidelines are followed for the use of the equipment.
  • Regularly service and maintain the equipment.

This Policy is extended such that the Underwriters shall, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of this Policy, include Trichology as an activity forming part of the approved treatments document for the Insured.

Additional Conditions

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that this treatment is included subject to:

  • Pre and post treatment advice in given to the client and recorded in writing by the Insured.
  • Signed written consent from the client and recorded by the Insured.
  • The Insured operator must hold an accredited Trichology course or an OFQUAL regulated course such as level 5 Diploma in Clinical Trichology.
  • The Insured operator holding the necessary certificate of competency.

Except as otherwise stated, all other terms, conditions, limitation and exclusions remain unchanged.



Botulinium Toxin

ABT Botulinium Toxin Extension
___________________________________________________________________________

This Policy is hereby extended such that the Underwriters shall, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of this Policy include Botulinium Toxin by way of ABT approved devices, as an activity forming part of the approved treatments document for the Insured.

Additional Conditions

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that any Botulinium Toxin administered is included subject to:

  • Photographs of patients being taken both before and after treatment. For regular patients receiving repeat routine treatments where the results are not immediate, post treatment photographs may be taken by the client and submitted to the Insured. The Insured shall retain these photographs for a minimum period of ten (10) years after the date of the treatment. If a client refuses to have photographs taken, the patient’s refusal must be obtained in writing from the client at the relevant time. The client must sign and date the written declaration of their refusal to allow photographs to be taken and this should be retained by the Insured for ten (10) years after the date of the treatment.
  • Compliance with any relevant health, safety and environmental protection legislation including but not limited to carrying a CE or UKCA marking where appropriate.
  • The treatment being non-permanent.
  • Adherence to any specific instructions that are issued by the manufacturer.
  • The Insured not altering or having knowledge that the product have been altered in any way.
  • The Botulinium Toxin being administered in the manufacturer’s recommended target body area.
  • The Insured maintaining accurate and descriptive records including but not limited to batch numbers of any product, used in procedures which shall be available for inspection and use by Underwriters or the Underwriters’ duly appointed representatives.
  • Treatments not being performed on clients who are under the age of 18.
  • Treatments not being performed to any genitalia or buttock.

Except as otherwise stated, all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions remain unchanged.




ABT Run-Off Cover Extension To Section 1A Professional Liability Extensions and 3A Products Liability Extensions
___________________________________________________________________________

This Policy extends to indemnify the Insured if:

  • during the Period of Insurance, the Insured’s business permanently ceases as result of retirement, permanent disability or death the Policy shall, upon notification of such cessation, be automatically extended with a period of three (3) years of run-off cover from the date of cessation without any further payment of premium to Underwriters. During the period of run-off cover, the Insured (or their estate) shall be entitled to notify Underwriters of any Claim or other loss indemnified by this Policy, provided that the acts, errors or omissions giving rise to the Claim occurred prior to the cessation of the Insured’s business. Any such Claims or losses shall be deemed to have been made and reported during the Period of Insurance.
  • during the Period of Insurance, the Insured’s business permanently discontinues the treatments covered under this Policy, the Policy shall, upon notification of such cessation, be automatically extended with a period of three (3) years of run-off cover from the date of cessation without any further payment of premium to Underwriters. During the period of run-off cover, the Insured shall be entitled to notify Underwriters of any Claim or other loss indemnified by this Policy, provided that the acts, errors or omissions giving rise to the Claim occurred prior to the cessation of the Insured’s business. Any such Claims or losses shall be deemed to have been made and reported during the Period of Insurance, provided that:
    • the Insured has been continuously insured with Howden for a period of not less than 12 months;
    • the Insured:
      • has not submitted any Claim to Underwriters or any prior insurers;
      • notified Underwriters or any prior insurers of any matter that could give rise to a Claim;
      • has not been the subject of an external investigation or disciplinary action.

The run-off cover provided in this extension (Run-Off Cover) to Section 1A shall not:

  • extend the Period of Insurance;
  • change the scope of cover provided by this Policy; or
  • increase or reinstate any Limit of Liability.

Except as otherwise stated, all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions remain unchanged.




ABT Maternity Cover Extension To Section 1A Professional Liability Extensions and 3A Products Liability Extensions
___________________________________________________________________________

This Policy extends to indemnify the Insured if:

  • during the Period of Insurance, the Insured’s business temporarily ceases as result of, maternity, the Policy shall, upon notification of such cessation, be automatically extended with a period of three (3) years of run-off cover from the date of cessation without any further payment of premium to Underwriters. During the period of run-off cover, the Insured shall be entitled to notify Underwriters of any Claim or other loss indemnified by this Policy, provided that the acts, errors or omissions giving rise to the Claim occurred prior to the cessation of the Insured’s business. Any such Claims or losses shall be deemed to have been made and reported during the Period of Insurance.
  • In the event that the Insured re-commences trading during the abovementioned three year period from temporary cessation, the run off coverage shall terminate immediately and from the first date trading recommences. No coverage is afforded to the Insured for claims relating to activities performed during the period of run off and within the period of temporary cessation.

The maternity cover provided in this extension shall not:

  • extend the Period of Insurance;
  • change the scope of cover provided by this Policy; or
  • increase or reinstate any Limit of Liability.

Except as otherwise stated, all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions remain unchanged.

This Policy is hereby extended such that the Underwriters shall, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of this Policy include Dermal Fillers - non permanent by way of ABT approved devices, as an activity forming part of the approved treatments document for the Insured.

Additional Conditions

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that any Dermal Fillers - non permanent administered is included subject to:

  • Photographs of patients being taken both before and after treatment. For regular patients receiving repeat routine treatments where the results are not immediate, post treatment photographs may be taken by the client and submitted to the Insured. The Insured shall retain these photographs for a minimum period of ten (10) years after the date of the treatment. If a client refuses to have photographs taken, the patient’s refusal must be obtained in writing from the client at the relevant time. The client must sign and date the written declaration of their refusal to allow photographs to be taken and this should be retained by the Insured for ten (10) years after the date of the treatment.
  • Compliance with any relevant health, safety and environmental protection legislation including but not limited to carrying a CE or UKCA marking where appropriate.

Additional Conditions

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that any Injectable skin boosters and sculpting administered is included subject to:

  • Photographs of patients being taken both before and after treatment. For regular patients receiving repeat routine treatments where the results are not immediate, post treatment photographs may be taken by the client and submitted to the Insured. The Insured shall retain these photographs for a minimum period of ten (10) years after the date of the treatment. If a client refuses to have photographs taken, the patient’s refusal must be obtained in writing from the client at the relevant time. As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that any Hyaluronidase/Hyalase administered is included subject to:

  • Photographs of patients being taken both before and after treatment. For regular patients receiving repeat routine treatments where the results are not immediate, post treatment photographs may be taken by the client and submitted to the Insured. The Insured shall retain these photographs for a minimum period of ten (10) years after the date of the treatment. If a client refuses to have photographs taken, the patient’s refusal must be obtained in writing from the client at the relevant time. The client must sign and date the written declaration of their refusal to allow photographs to be taken and this should be retained by the Insured for ten (10) years after the date of the treatment.
  • Compliance with any relevant health, safety and environmental protection legislation including but not limited to carrying a CE or UKCA marking where appropriate.
  • The treatment being non-permanent.
  • Adherence to any specific instructions that are issued by the manufacturer.
  • The Insured not altering or having knowledge that the product have been altered in any way.
  • The Hyaluronidase/Hyalase being administered in the manufacturer’s recommended target body area.

This Policy is hereby extended such that the Underwriters shall, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of this Policy include Cryolipolysis / Cryotherapy chamber by way of ABT approved devices, as an activity forming part of the approved treatments document for the Insured.

Additional Conditions

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that any Cryolipolysis / Cryotherapy chamber administered is included subject to:

  • Photographs of patients being taken both before and after treatment. For regular patients receiving repeat routine treatments where the results are not immediate, post treatment photographs may be taken by the client and submitted to the Insured. The Insured shall retain these photographs for a minimum period of ten (10) years after the date of the treatment. If a client refuses to have photographs taken, the patient’s refusal must be obtained in writing from the client at the relevant time. The client must sign and date the written declaration of their refusal to allow photographs to be taken and this should be retained by the Insured for ten (10) years after the date of the treatment.
  • Compliance with any relevant health, safety and environmental protection legislation including but not limited to carrying a CE or UKCA marking where appropriate.
  • The treatment being non-permanent.
  • Adherence to any specific instructions that are issued by the manufacturer.
  • The Insured not altering or having knowledge that the product have been altered in any way.
  • The Cryolipolysis / Cryotherapy chamber being administered in the manufacturer’s recommended target body area.
  • The Insured maintaining accurate and descriptive records including but not limited to batch numbers of any product, used in procedures which shall be available for inspection and use by Underwriters or the Underwriters’ duly appointed representatives.
  • Treatments not being performed on clients who are under the age of 18.
  • Treatments not being performed to any genitalia or buttock.

Except as otherwise stated, all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions remain unchanged.




ABT Run-Off Cover Extension To Section 1A Professional Liability Extensions and 3A Products Liability Extensions
___________________________________________________________________________

This Policy extends to indemnify the Insured if:

  • during the Period of Insurance, the Insured’s business permanently ceases as result of retirement, permanent disability or death the Policy shall, upon notification of such cessation, be automatically extended with a period of three (3) years of run-off cover from the date of cessation without any further payment of premium to Underwriters. During the period of run-off cover, the Insured (or their estate) shall be entitled to notify Underwriters of any Claim or other loss indemnified by this Policy, provided that the acts, errors or omissions giving rise to the Claim occurred prior to the cessation of the Insured’s business. Any such Claims or losses shall be deemed to have been made and reported during the Period of Insurance.
  • during the Period of Insurance, the Insured’s business permanently discontinues the treatments covered under this Policy, the Policy shall, upon notification of such cessation, be automatically extended with a period of three (3) years of run-off cover from the date of cessation without any further payment of premium to Underwriters. During the period of run-off cover, the Insured shall be entitled to notify Underwriters of any Claim or other loss indemnified by this Policy, provided that the acts, errors or omissions giving rise to the Claim occurred prior to the cessation of the Insured’s business. Any such Claims or losses shall be deemed to have been made and reported during the Period of Insurance, provided that:
    • the Insured has been continuously insured with Howden for a period of not less than 12 months;
    • the Insured:
      • has not submitted any Claim to Underwriters or any prior insurers;
      • notified Underwriters or any prior insurers of any matter that could give rise to a Claim;
      • has not been the subject of an external investigation or disciplinary action.

The run-off cover provided in this extension (Run-Off Cover) to Section 1A shall not:

  • extend the Period of Insurance;
  • change the scope of cover provided by this Policy; or
  • increase or reinstate any Limit of Liability.

As a Condition Precedent to the right of the Insured to be indemnified under this Policy, it is hereby noted and agreed that any IPL / Non ablative laser administered is included subject to:

  • Photographs of patients being taken both before and after treatment. For regular patients receiving repeat routine treatments where the results are not immediate, post treatment photographs may be taken by the client and submitted to the Insured. Personal Accident

This policy covers you for bodily injury caused by accident and does not cover any claim caused or contributed by sickness. This policy will pay a maximum amount of £25,000 if you suffer bodily injury during the period of insurance which result in your:

  • Accidental death
  • Loss of, or loss of use of a limb(s)
  • Loss of sight
  • Loss of hearing
  • Loss of speech
  • Permanent total disablement
  • Permanent partial disablement
Exclusions

Any bodily injury, loss or expense arising from:

  • Engaging in active service of the armed forces in any nation
  • Drugs, drug addiction and / or drink driving

  • Property used solely in connection with your business, belonging to you or for which you are legally responsible.
  • Property including therapy equipment, office equipment, tablet devices, computers and ancillary equipment, electronic equipment, photographic equipment and stock.
  • A £100 policy excess applies to each and every claim.
Exclusions

Any bodily injury, loss or expense arising from:

  • Brittle articles
  • Damage caused by wear, tear or any gradually operating cause
  • Damage caused by any act of dishonesty committed by any employee
Beauty Insurance Benefits - excluding Aesthetics
  • Up to £6 million Professional Treatment Risks Insurance should anything happen while you are performing a treatment or acting otherwise in your professional capacity.
  • £6 million Public Liability should any accidents occur.
  • £6 million Product Liability should there be any injury or loss arising from the products you supplied whether to your clients or up to certain limits on a retail basis also.
  • A Claims Occurring policy that covers claims occurred during the policy period irrespective of when the claim is made.

In addition, we give you unlimited defence costs per claim with an unlimited number of claims in a year.

 

Aesthetics Insurance Benefits

Aesthetics Insurance is to cover your aesthetics treatments, in addition to the Standard Beauty Insurance benefits above which covers your beauty treatments. Coverage is available from an additional premium of £980 per year for your salon with limits of indemnity from £500,000 through to £4 million. Our aesthetics insurance and membership for individuals and salons is for a 12-month annual policy, covering you to practise treatments you are qualified and trained in to the correct levels of prerequisite requirements by our insurers for your insurance to be valid. Under this policy for aesthetics there are certain specific insurance benefits that are subject to our normal terms and conditions.

  • Professional Liability – Medical Malpractice
    • Covers liability for breach of professional duty due to negligent acts, negligent errors or negligent omissions committed in the conduct of your business.
  • Public Liability
    • Covers liability for accidental injury to persons and loss of or accidental damage to the property of others arising from the conduct of your business.
  • Products’ Liability
    • Covers liability for accidental injury of persons and accidental loss of or damage to property of others arising from products supplied in the conduct of your business.
  • Retrospective Extension
    • Cover for claims first made against you during the period of insurance in respect of acts, errors and omissions prior to the period of insurance.
  • 3-Year Run-Off Cover
    • Run-off cover is a form of insurance that protects a business or individual after they have stopped trading, for claims made against them that relate to work done before they ceased activity.
  • Defence Costs
    • Coverage for reasonable legal costs and expenses for defending covered claims.
  • Extensions of Coverage
    • Coverages are further extended by various extensions including, but not limited to: Botulinum Toxin, Dermal Fillers, Fat Dissolving Injections, IPL, Cryotherapy, Hyaluronidase and more. Click here for details.
  • Who is Insured?
    • The individual or entity named as such in the policy schedule and, if declared to and agreed to in writing in advance by the underwriters, the entity’s directors, members, managers, employees and committee members working on your behalf or at your direction.
