The Advanced Skin Peeling (ASP) extension is available for Beauty Therapists with the relevant basic experience and pre-requisites. This extension covers for 10-50% AHA glycolic peels or equivalent. (example: Glycolic acid is one of the alpha hydroxy acids (AHA)). An accredited ASP course must have been completed to qualify for this extension. Treatments must only be carried out by a trained practitioner holding a qualifying certificate who is either a Beauty Therapist with a minimum of a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification, a nurse or a doctor.

The Advanced Piercing extension is designed for experienced piercers who have completed the Basic Course and wish to pierce the cartilaginous portion of the ear, nose or navel. An accredited advanced piercing course must have been completed to qualify for this extension.

The Advanced Electrolysis (AE) extension is designed for therapists that are already fully trained and experienced in basic electrolysis and have obtained the relevant A&P modules. Cover for the AE extension is for removal of skin tags, milia and thread veins. Other uses are available for insurance under this category, however GP referral may be required. An accredited AE course must have been completed to qualify for this extension.

Including basic and advanced procedures for eyebrow, eyeline, camouflage scar tissue, lip line and blend. An accredited Micropigmentation Course must have been completed to qualify for this extension and meet local authority and ABT criteria.

Skin Type (Fitzpatrick scale) 1 - 4. Practitioner must hold Level 3 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and have an accredited laser manufacturer’s training certificate. Although uses of machines vary, this extension covers the removal of hair via laser or IPL only. Machines must be used in line with manufacturer training, servicing intervals and comply with BS or EU standard.

Skin Type (Fitzpatrick scale) 1 - 4. Practitioner must hold Level 3 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and have an accredited laser manufacturer’s training certificate. Although uses of machines vary, this extension covers Skin Rejuvenation via laser or IPL only. Machines must be used in line with manufacturer training, servicing intervals and comply with BS or EU standard.

This extension is for 4 beds maximum in any one premises and a fully trained therapist must be onsite. Unfortunately, this extension excludes specific tanning shops/venues. A fully qualified therapist must be at location to qualify for this extension.

This option is for an individual who is delivering a qualification and not exceeding 40 students a year or £25,000 turnover. For this extension, it makes no difference if the course delivery is classed as short (i.e. one day) or long.

Needle sizes must not be longer than 1mm roller or 1.5mm stamp for facial treatments and 1.5mm for body treatments. Practitioner must hold Level 3 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and an accredited Skin Needling course must have been completed to qualify for this extension.

Including basic, plus advanced procedures for eyebrow, eyeline, camouflage scar tissue, lipline and blend. Semi-Permanent makeup applied for this extension uses a specially designed blade and must meet EU or British Standard whilst complying with local authority Hygiene regulations. An accredited Microblading Course must have been completed to qualify for this extension and member must meet local authority and ABT criteria

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the delivery of accredited courses. This will include a maximum of 3 teachers and 250 students per year. This extension indemnifies the insured member for allegations of negligence against them arising from the delivery of the courses and from student activity but does not extend to cover the individual student themselves if personally sued. If the treatments are being performed in and out of the school by trainers, cover is applied. ABT membership and extensions will be required. This cover is for where someone is a corporate entity and delivering a qualification, or where the person exceeds the individual option. For this extension it makes no difference if the course delivery is classed as short or long.

The therapist must have at least level 2 skincare module plus level 3 in general beauty and completed relevant ABT accredited training in Mesotherapy Needle length depths can vary between 1-4mm and is only permitted within trained guidelines to a maximum of 4mm Local Authority permission and approval must have been granted if applicable to therapist / salons geographical location.

An accredited Cryopen course must have been completed to qualify for this extension and the applicant must hold a minimum of a Level 2 Beauty general qualification / A&P.

A Level 2 Beauty qualification or equivalent must be held. Covers the application of gems provided the insured applies the gems in line with manufacturer’s training. Teeth Whitening Products 0.1% and Tooth Decoration – Product Liability for retail only and provided there is no administration of any product with Hydrogen Peroxide. The risk is acceptable subject to the teeth whitening endorsement being applied. It is understood the insured sells teeth whitening kits with Hydrogen Peroxide less than 0.1%, but these are not administered on site. Teeth Whitening Products - Professional Liability Exclusion Applicable to Section I Professional Liability Only (treatment). No Indemnity shall be granted for claims arising in connection with Teeth Whitening Products or Procedures.

Practitioner must hold Level 2 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent), and have an accredited manufacturer’s training certificate. Examples of this technology include the AES Geneo platform. Machines must be used in line with manufacturer’s training, servicing intervals and comply with BS or EU standard.

Lipofirm Pro technology uniquely combines two technologies - TriLipo Radiofrequency (RF) and TriLipo Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA). Use is exclusively for the delivery of non-invasive fat removal and lymphatic drainage, as well as skin tightening. Please note: This is not the LipofirmPlus machine as ABT are unable to cover for cavitation. Practitioner must hold Level 3 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and have an accredited manufacturer’s training certificate. With this technology, it is a requirement that service intervals are maintained.

For the use as an exfoliative technique for skin surface and to remove fine hairs. Practitioner must hold Level 3 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and must hold an ABT accredited manufacturer’s training certificate and meet local authority criteria.

Practitioner must hold Level 2 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and have an accredited manufacturer’s training certificate. Examples of this technology include the CACI LED facial platform. Machines must be used in line with manufacturer’s training, servicing intervals and comply with BS or EU standard.

Divine technology from AES for skin rejuvenation and Mesotheopy uses. Practitioner must hold Level 3 Beauty Therapy general qualification (or equivalent) and have an accredited manufacturer’s training certificate. With this technology, it is a requirement that service intervals are maintained.

This policy is hereby extended to indemnify the policyholder for the delivery of accredited courses. This will include a maximum of 6 teachers and 450 students per year. This extension indemnifies the insured member for allegations of negligence against them arising from the delivery of the courses and from student activity but does not extend to cover the individual student themselves if personally sued. If the treatments are being performed in and out of the school by trainers, cover is applied. ABT membership and extensions will be required. This cover is for where someone is a corporate entity and delivering a qualification, or where the person exceeds the individual option. For this extension it makes no difference if the course delivery is classed as short or long. In cases where there are more than 6 tutors or exceeds 450 students, then a specific quotation from Balens Ltd (Schools Policy) is required.
